VETERANS’ UNIT AT THE CAMPBELLTON REGIONAL HOSPITAL CLOSED TO VISITORS

Campbellton (N. B.) – Until further notice, the Restigouche Health Authority would like to advise the public that visiting will not be allowed at the Campbellton Regional Hospital Veterans’ Unit.  

Six residents are exhibiting flu-like symptoms and will be monitored over the next 48 hours.  The exact nature of the infection has not been determined yet.  According to Nancy Ross, the Restigouche Health Authority Infection Control Coordinator, this precautionary measure is implemented to prevent the transmission of infections as well as for the protection of our residents and staff.  “Visitation restrictions will remain in effect until risk to residents and staff is low” she said.

The Health Authority would like to remind the public that the best preventive measure to stop the spread of infections is to use good hygiene, particularly proper hand washing.
