The Restigouche Health Authority Volunteer Services Department has over 300 qualified volunteers who contribute their time, skills and talents to provide personalized attention to patients and residents, making their hospital stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. In 2003, our volunteers contributed over 6,000 volunteer hours.

Bringing the Community to Our Patients Through:

Care Clowns to offer clown visits to patients and bring humour and joy to brighten their day;

Palliative Care to offer emotional support to palliative patients and their families;

Beauty on Wheels to uplift patients by providing on-site hair care services;

Cuticle Care to uplift patients by providing on-site nail care services;

Friendly visiting to ease loneliness, motivate patients and brighten their day;

Kindergarten Tours to help children face any fears they may have about hospitals;

Mobile Library to distribute literature in waiting areas and patient rooms;

Pastoral Care to help meet the spiritual and religious needs of patients;

Recreational & social activities including bingo, social tea, karaoke, Christmas party, barbecues, special dinners, music, etc.;

Snack Time Friends to bring a little snack to patients;

Satisfaction Surveys to encourage inpatients to provide feedback on their hospital stay.
